Do you have a problem with bed bugs in your home that you need to get rid of? You'll definitely want to know the different methods to get rid of them for good.

Vacuum Method

If you can see bed bugs in your home, an easy technique to use is the vacuum method. As the name implies, it involves vacuuming up the bugs so that they can be removed from your home. This works great if they are hiding in crevices, furniture, mattresses, and box springs. However, the vacuum method should not be the only method that you use, since it won't get rid of all the bed bugs.

Heat Treatment Method

Were you aware that bed bugs cannot survive when exposed to very hot temperatures? Placing any item infested with bed bugs into a dryer for an extended amount of time should be enough to kill them. This not only includes the bed bugs themselves, but any eggs left behind as well. A professional exterminator will often use the heat treatment method throughout an entire home if there is a really bad infestation.

Cold Treatment Method

Cold temperatures can be just as effective as getting rid of bed bugs. This works best for getting the bugs out of items that you do not want to wash and run through the dryer, like shoes. You can put items in a sealed plastic bag and just place them in the freezer for a few days to kill off the bed bugs and their eggs.

Steam Treatment Method

Steam can be a great way to treat bed bugs that are within the furniture and other fabric-based items. This is because the steam can be directed into the item to get deep inside it. You just have to make sure that the steam is hot enough to kill the bed bugs, so you may not be able to use a standard steamer that you use for clothing.

Insecticide Treatment Method

There are insecticides that are made specifically to treat bed bugs. They are used by applying them to areas with an infestation, and since that is in your home, you'll want to make sure to use insecticides carefully. It needs to be one that is safe for indoor use, and in an area where you can ventilate well once the treatment is complete.
